CNN producer note

iReport — As millions of Michael Jackson fans anxiously await Dr Conrad Murray's return to court today, some of them are finding something else to do with their fingers, other than biting off their nails.

In an Off the wall attempt to get Michael Jackson to No.1 on the first anniversary of his death, a mass purchase of 'We've had enough' begins today. Having shamelessly stolen the idea from the facebook campaign to get Rage Against the Machine to Xmas No.1 in 2009, the creators have gathered fans in their thousands, who have pledged to download the track on the day Murray returns to court.

'We've had enough' is available on the Ultimate Collection (2004) but was never released as a single in its own right, despite being a favourite amongst fans.
So fans are taking matters into their own hands and have orchestrated a synchronised download from Itunes and Amazon, that begins today.

It sounds Dangerous, but if successful, this could be Michael Jackson's first No.1 since 2001 (You rock my world)

Mid week download sales chart will give us an indicator of how close Michael Jackson's fans are to making HIStory or if there will be Blood on the dancefloor as the charts are revealed on Sunday 20th.

However you feel about Michael Jackson, you cant deny...his legacy is Invicible

Only one question remains:

Will this attempt to get Michael Jackson to No.1 on Download sales alone be a Thriller?

Or will it just be Bad?

http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-459662

The download has begun...

Download day is finally here!

Have you downloaded your copy of 'We've Had Enough' from itunes and amazon yet?

Less than one month....

It is less than one month until the aniversary of Michael's death. Many of us are still coming to terms with his passing and still cant comprehend that Michael has left this earth for nearly a whole year now.

June 25 2010 will be an emotional day for us all. Many fans plan to light a candle, some will be holding vigils while others will be celebrating his life and legacy.

Imagine waking up on June 25 to find that Michael is at number one in the charts around the globe with 'We've Had Enough'. Imagine the world listening to those emotive lyrics and that rousing chorus. Imagine Michael smiling down on us, knowing that the world is finally listening to his anti-war message for which he cared so passionately.

We can make this happen. We know this project is ambitious but Michael dared to dream and so must we.

Please spread the word far and wide - join the facebook group, email the press release to your friends, watch the youtube videos. Share the L.O.V.E

A message from Suleman Mirza

We are very pleased that Suleman from Signature is proudly supporting and promoting our campaign. Signature are an EXCELLENT MJ tribute dance act and huge MJ fans!

Here is the message Suleman posted on his facebook page:

Dear Friends

Hope you are all well.......
I have been asked by a group of very dedicated MJ fans to support a campaign which would see the unreleased single by MJ called WE’VE HAD ENOUGH reach number one during week commencing 14th June 2010 in the UK. Usually I cannot support these types of initiatives due to my very h...eavy workload and schedule...

..however this time around I feel it quite important to at least send this message out as I truly believe that the SONG is one of the best MJ songs ever made and my favourite with a great message. It was never released commercially but such a gem should not be hidden and it would be great if the single went to NUMBER ONE IN THE UK. You are obviously free to make up your mind but if you like the song (my fav) then please do download from i-tunes and lets get this amazing single to #1 on the date 25th June 2010.

Thanks for reading and here are the relevant links to the campaign and the video to

Stevie's report on Flyering Day

Image: How cute are these little MJ fans?

The day started off well, because the sun was shining and it was lovely and warm. This was a big relief to Jen & I, because we knew we were going to be spending 8 hours outside (on and off). Maria met us at St.Pancras and we went to her flat to drop off our gear, put our t.shirts on, chill n chat for a bit before going to a Moroccan restaurant in Covent Garden for some lunch.

We left the restaurant at 3.15 to make the short walk to the Lyric Theatre. We both expressed a certain amount of nervousness at this point, having never done anything like this before. We’d already planned our ‘speech’ but we were unsure if we’d be any good at it, would people want to listen to us? Would we get any negative comments? Would we be taken seriously? We arrived outside the front of the theatre and a lady came up to us, asking if we were Michael Jackson fans (the t.shirts being a bit of a clue I guess) and then she introduced herself as Mai1 from the forum! This was a lovely surprise and we all hugged and kissed our greetings.

Having handed Mai some flyers and badges we then stood there a little unsure. There was a group of people gathered, just chatting and I though “right, this is it, take the bull by the horns and just go for it!” so I approached them and asked if they were gonna see the show. When they said “yes” I asked if they would like to help get Michael Jackson to no.1 on the anniversary of his death. When they smiled and said “yes” I then went into a brief explanation of our campaign and they all seemed keen and interested. I gave them badges (something for free always goes down well!) and they went into the theatre looking at the flyers.

From then on it was easy. We got a good response largely; some people ignored us of course, some politely shook their heads, but a LOT of people were very interested. And some were absolutely dead keen and promised to download. At one point, the staff approached Mai1 to ask what we were about. After she explained to them, they took a bunch of flyers to display in the foyer!! RESULT!!

When the doors closed for the start of the performance we went off to get a drink (our mouths were so dry from all the talking) and then went back to get them coming out. Again, a largely positive response. We felt encouraged and very very pleased.

Surprise No. 1:
As we stood there for the start of the evening performance, we noticed a group of girls coming towards the theatre. All dressed in Michaelesque outfits, looking stunning. Of course we targeted them and shoved flyers at them. They said “we know about this campaign!, it’s been on our forum!” It transpires that they’re from PositivelyMichael and we all know each other (by username of course!). They introduce themselves – Dangerous, AnotherPartofMe, mjsPYT77, Aine, Julie and Clovermoss!! They have traveled from USA, Sweden, Belgium, Newcastle and Liverpool to all meet up for a few days in London, with a trip to Thriller Live during their meet-up. The squeals of delight coming from us all must’ve made bystanders wonder what the hell was going on!!

Surprise No. 2:
After our initial shock at this unexpected happy coincidence, Jen announces “That’s not the only surprise Squiff. I’ve got you a ticket for your birthday – we’re gonna see the show!”. OMG!! I was totally overwhelmed and actually became a little emotional for a minute. This day was just getting better and better!

We continued flyering until we really had to get inside, and watched an absolutely amazing, thrilling, emotional and uplifting show. At one point I was told to sit down by the people behind me. I reluctantly obliged for a couple more songs, but then when Billie Jean started, I thought f..k em!! And I stood up and danced with everybody else for the rest of show!

We had to make a VERY sharp exit at the end in order to catch the people coming out and continue our work. Surprisingly enough, the response in the evening wasn’t as good as the matinee but we decided people were probably eager to get home. We still got good vibes, just not as many as in the afternoon.

Jen & I made our way back to Maria’s armed with a celebratory bottle of White Zinfandel, reflecting on a good day and a job well done.

Flyering day in London

Images: Stevie handing out flyers and the back of my back sporting our T-shirt with the girls from the Positively Michael forum

On Saturday April 10, team mjmassdownload arrived at the Lyric Theatre to approach MJ fans coming in and out of the Thriller live show to promote our campaign.
In attendance were Kav (who created the youtube video), Stevie (who designed the badges and T-shirts), Audrey (who heard about what we were doing on the MJFC forum) and Jen (writer of this blog and twitter account). The Gods were indeed smiling on us as the sun was streaming down. None of us had ever approached complete strangers to explain a campaign so we were unsure of the reaction we were going to get. Fans entering the daytime performance seemed very interested - and some even took a badge and requested a T-shirt! We were also pleased when the staff working at Thriller Live took and interest and even took some flyers to handout inside!

After a break we resumed campaigning as fans began to gather for the evening show. Again, we were pleased when people showed an interest and requested a badge. Of course some werent interested at all but noone was rude to us.
We noticed a fantastic group of girls approaching all dressed up in MJ gear - including glittery socks, fedora and aviator shades. We were estatic to discover the girls were from the Positively Michael forum and knew about our campaign!
it was then time for me and Stevie to watch the show (which is fantastic by the way!). After the show we shot straight outside to catch the crowd coming out. Generally the response was a little more apathetic - however we were well aware that people probably wanted to shoot off home at that point.
All in all our flyering day was a great success and we aim to do another one before June 14th. It was great to promote such a wonderful song to many people who had never heard of it, let alone heard it! Hopefully they will have a listen and realise what an amazing song it is.

If there are any events we should know about that will attract MJ fans or you would like to get involved with the campaign, please do not hesistate to leave a comment or contact us as mjmassdownload@googlemail.com

Its all for L.O.V.E

Thank you, Jen

June 14th 2010

MJ fans recieved the news yesterday that 'Doctor Death' Conrad Murray will be back in court on June 14th. For us fans this makes our campaign more urgent than ever. For June 14th is also the date we are asking fellow fans to download the song 'We've Had Enough' to get it to number one on June 25th.
On June 14th fans can be heard through Michaels music - his gift to us.
The lyrics are more poignant now than ever. Here are just some of the lyrics of this beautiful song:

Love was taken from a young life
And no one told her why
Her direction has a dimlight
From one more violent crime

She innocently questioned why
Why her father had to die
She asked the men in blue
How is it that you get to choose
Who will live and who will die
Did god say that you could decide ?
You saw he didn't run
And that my daddy had no gun

...

Did God say that they could decide
Who will live and who will die ?
All my mama ever did
Was try to take care of her kids

We're innocently standing by
Watching people lose their lives
It seems as if we have no voice
It's time for us to make a choice

Only god could decide
Who will live and who will die
There's nothing that can't be done
If we raise our voice as one

They've gotta hear it from me
They've gotta hear it from you
They've gotta hear it from us
We can't take it
We've already had enough

What a statement this will send to the world!

9 Months

Today marks the 9 month anniversary of Michael Jacksons death. For us fans the grief, pain and shock is still a constant feature of our daily lives.

Each day brings more lurid details about his death, circulated mainly by the tabloid press in a ploy to make a cheap buck.

Is it too much to ask for digity and justice to be served?

Increasingly us, his fans, raise our voices as one, through forums, social networking sites and open letters to the tabloid press.

Here at TEAM @MJMASSDOWNLOAD we are busy preparing to unite the MJ fan family through Michaels music.

Through downloading We've Had Enough on June 14th we will be sending a message around the world - we, the fans, have had enough! We want dignity and respect for Michael Jackson. The song is a plea for justice. The words are ever more poignant for fans since Michael's untimely death.

Badges, T-shirts and flyers are now ready. We are already spreading the word through digital media, now its time to take the message to fellow fans face to face.

April 10th is flyering day - Lou, Squiffy, Kavitha and I (Jenny) will be in London handing out flyers and badges to fellow fans. We will be outside the lyric theatre from 3.30 till late.

You can help us by emailing and printing flyers and handing them out in your local area. Please contact us at mjmassdownload@googlemail.com if you would like badges or the flyer in any other format.

Thank you for your continuing support, love Jen

#justice4mj #wevehadenough

On March 25th there will be a mass twitter event. The task is simple - get #justice4mj trending. It was wonderful last week to check the trending topics and see Michael Jackson's name there.

In the digital age the power is in the hands of ordinary people like you and me.

We can make a difference.

We can send a message to the world.

WE want to see justice done for such a talented humanitarian who suffered at the hands of the media, greedy extortionists and a bitter, twisted District Attorney. WE have had enough!

Let us send a powerful message on June 25th too.

A simple download of the track 'We've Had Enough'.

Lets use Michael's beautiful music to tell the world how we feel.

Let's tell the world theres nothing that can't be done if we we raise our voice as one!

Michael Jackson’s Song “WE’VE HAD ENOUGH” – Is It Really That Difficult to Understand Who Michael Jackson Was?

When I sat down to write about the Michael Jackson song, “WE’VE HAD ENOUGH”, I quickly became overwhelmed. It is simply too difficult or maybe even impossible to separate the artist from the art in this case.
Leaving aside the fact that MJ was and remains one of the most famous and controversial characters in history, the man did not just write love ballads. He repeatedly brought social issues into his songs and and publicly declared them to be causes close to his heart, right? (You have to admit that even if you dispute the exact amount he donated to charities.) And “We’ve Had Enough” happens to be one of those songs! So, I will not even attempt the task of separating the man from his art. Besides, I am a huge fan and any such attempt will be seen as “biased”.
Who was Michael Jackson then? The answer is simpler than we think. The skeptics would have us believe otherwise, but these folks never really tell us who he is. All they do is point to what he is NOT.
They say that he was NOT really a humanitarian and dismiss his efforts as a case of self-interested publicity. This line of thinking certainly has its appeal. Afterall, we tend to reserve the label, “humanitarian”, to those who appear to pay little attention to “worldly” concerns. A man who cares so much about the way he looks? No way.
What is it about “human nature” that makes us so ready to see evil in others and are human beings motivated purely or primarily by greed and self-interest? If people could be so easily explained, it would make life a lot easier and inaction so much more justified – why bother if the world is and will always be so evil? But we all know that life ain’t easy.
Have you never walked past a homeless person on the street and wanted to give him/her some money? When you turn on the TV and see images of starving children who literally look like a rack of bones, do you not want to reach for the remote and switch channels? When you see an elderly person walking alone on the street barely able to maintain balance, does your heart not cringe a bit and wonder where their loves ones are?
If you answered yes to any of the above, it becomes easier to understand who MJ was. Like you and me, he was a human being with compassion or concern for others’ suffering. But unlike some of us, he also had an immense ability to empathize – the ability to mirror or put himself in others’ shoes and understand how that suffering feels. And unlike a lot of us, he made conscious decisions during his life to use his creativity and talent to translate that compassion and empathy into action.
The song, “We’ve Had Enough”, is testament to that. We can all describe our observations of violent acts – the attack, the injury, the blood, the tears, etc. In this song as with many others he wrote, MJ goes one step further. He goes into the victims’ heads and sees their complex emotional predicaments.
Here is one of the stories in the song. There is a civilian family (mother, father and child) caught in a war zone or some sort of life-and-death situation. The child screams as he sees the mother dying, and the father is witnessing all this. In itself, that is a sad enough story. But MJ tells us more…the child is shrouded in panic and confusion because he cannot make sense of what is going on and feels helpless…the father is not only obviously devastated from the imminent loss of his wife, but is also at a complete loss as he is unable to find answers to the questions that he anticipates will be coming from his son…the child then becomes angry…
The narrative, told in this manner, is hardly convincing but MJ tells the story in a different way. Instead of simply identifying those feelings as I have above, he takes us through the imagined dialogues of the characters as well as their sense of devastation, hopelessness, indignation and conviction which we hear in his voice. Finally, through his direct pleas to the listener in the chorus, he successfully persuades us that we “ought” to do something to end such tragedies. Listen to the song and you will know what I mean.
MJ was definitely extremely gifted. The rest of us may not have his talent or resources, but at the very basic level, we have a lot more in common with him than we think – compassion and the capacity to empathize. MJ developed that capacity into an actual ability, and then repeatedly turned it into action. What will you do? Personally, I’ve “HAD ENOUGH” of the skepticism. Through this MJ song, I am going to tell the world exactly that.

Why the song 'We've Had Enough' matters

I don't tend to feel much, not really. I mean, I have emotions; the good ones and the bad ones. I get angry, frustrated, happy, tearful... etc etc. But I don't FEEL, physically, right down in my soul. Or at least, I hadn't before.

That all changed when I heard We've Had Enough for the first time. I first heard in on YouTube when I was doing my usual MJ searches. As the song (and the video) started I watched with horror at the images before me. I listened to the lyrics, I mean REALLY listened (because I have to do that with his songs). As I rode the waves of emotion coming from the first two verses my stomach was in knots. As the build-up to the chorus grew, I had a sense of what I can only decribe as anticipation; "oh god, what's coming up?". Then that chorus hits you right in the heart. I felt goosebumps run down my back and arms. The physical reaction was something I've never experienced with a song before. I felt as though I'd been touched by something unearthly, almost spiritual.

I found it difficult to understand how such a powerful song had not been released. I have said many times that this song is everything that Michael stood for; his anguish, his desire for wars to end, his passion for righting the wrongs in our society, his heartbreak at the injustice and pain that the worlds' children have to suffer.

Maybe it wasn't the right time to release this wonderful song back then. Maybe the right time is now, when more people are likely to hear it, and actually LISTEN.

Lou's story Part One

Everyone will always remember where they were when they heard the news that Michael Jackson was dead.

I was in my kitchen. It was June 26th.

On June 25th I had been tearing around from meeting to meeting, then racing to collect my daughter from the childminder, tearing home and doing all the things that Mothers do. Making Tea, getting the bath ready, story time, bedtime. I think I crashed out on the sofa about 9pm. I hadn’t seen any news. None at all.

I received a text message from my sister. I rarely get text messages from my sister, and it did strike me as odd. The message simply said “Are you okay?”

I replied “Yes thank. Are you?”

I hadn’t heard. I didn’t know.

On June 26th I was checking my emails before leaving for work. One quick check of facebook. A friend’s status update said “R.I.P Michael Jackson”

My brain could not process the words on the screen. I scanned down the page.
“R.I.P Michael Jackson” “Farewell King of Pop” “Is the circus finally over?” “Is it true?” “R.I.P Michael Jackson” “Gone too soon”

My heart was racing

Frantically my fingers typed the address for BBC News. And there it was.

Michael Jackson was dead.

Michael Jackson. Was dead.

I froze. I turned to my husband.

“Michael Jackson is dead”

He looked at me. We looked at each other.

“Oh” he said.

At that moment I felt a piece of my heart die. I felt it leave me. I knew where it was going. To Michael – where it belonged.
